“It is a
pleasure on my part to inform you that I have been awarded a PhD
on “Library Resources and services for the Blind in Orissa: An
Analytical Study”. This is the first PhD. thesis relating to the
blind cmmunity in the State of Orissa and also the first doctoral
research in the field of Library and Information Science on Blind
Library in our country.
The magazines you provided vide
your letter dated November 13, 2000 have apprised and guided me
extensively on my research project. I thankfully acknowledge your
support and co –operation in the successful completion of my

FIRST Ph.D. ON BLIND LIBRARY
Sri Paresh Chandra Dani has been
awarded Ph.D. on “Library Resources and Services for the Blind in
Orissa: An Analytical Study” by Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar.
Dr. K.C. Sahoo , professor and Head of the department of Library and
Information Science of the same University was Dr. Dani's Guide. The
thesis was examined and was highly acclaimed by Dr. R.P. Singh, HOD,
Library and Information Science, Kanpur
University and Dr. K.C. Panda, Reader, Library and Information Science,
Sambalpur
University. This is the first PhD. thesis relating to the blind community in the
state of Orissa and also the first doctoral research on “ Blind
Library “ in the field of Library and Information Science in our
country.
Dr.Dani is the founder – member of
JYOTI ( Eye Donation and Blind Welfare Organisation) which works for
the upliftment of sightless people of Orissa for the last 20 years.
He is also closely associated with different voluntary and social
organizations such as Orissa Sanskrutik Samaj, Chitragtpa Kalian
Sangha, Utsarga( Blood Donation Organisation) etc. Dr. Dani has
participated in many state and national level seminars and
workshops. He is now serving as librarian in Gangadhar Meher (Autonomus)
College, Sambalpur ( Orissa). |
